Main Characteristics: Dhole have a body length of approximately 90 cms (35 inches), a tail length between 40 and 45 cms (16 - 18 inches) and they weigh between 15 and 20 kgs (33 - 44 lbs). They are reddish/brown in colour with a pale coloured underside and a darker tail. Habitat: Dhole inhabit the dense forests and jungles of Asia. They live in family packs of 5 - 12 individuals and they are active during the day.Diet: Dhole feed on deer, wild pigs, antelope, sheep, gaur and fruits. Breeding: After a gestation period of 60 - 65 days, a litter of 4 - 6 pups are born. They are weaned by the time they are 2 months old and they reach sexual maturity at 1 year old. Predators: Predators of Dholes include: Bengal Tigers, Pythons, Mugger Crocodiles, Saltwater Crocodiles, Sloth Bears, Asian Lions, Leopards and Man. Subspecies: Subspecies of the Dhole include: Cuon alpinus adustus, Cuon alpinus alpinus, Cuon alpinus fumosus, Cuon alpinus hesperius, Cuon alpinus laniger, Cuon alpinus lepturus and Cuon alpinus sumatrensis.
